Transcribed Text

In the name of God, Amen. I William Holland of Frederick County in the province of Maryland being in perfect mind and memory do make and constitute this to be my last will + testament and do dispose of all my worldly goods which it hath pleased God to bless me with in manner and form following (to wit):

First of all I do hereby give and bequeath to my dear beloved wife Susanna Holland one third part of all my estate to be paid to her by my Executor after the following legacies shall be duly paid to my legatees.

Also I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Holland all that tract of land which he now lives on called Hollands Addition containing Eighty acres as also forty acres of my Tract of land called Charles and Benjamin to be laid out to him on that part adjoining to his above mentioned Tract to him and his heirs forever.

Also - I give and bequeath to my son Arnold Holland all the remainder part of my lands called the Charles and Benjamin containing One hundred and forty six Acres as also one Negro man named Sam, two best feather beds and furniture, two best Iron potts, the one half part of my Kitchen and house pewter, my largest looking glass, largest table and four leather chears with my case of Bottles and my half part of the copper still to him + his heirs forever. -

Also, All the remainder part of my personal Estate of what kind or nature soever my will and desire is that it shall be equally devided amongst all my sons and daughters (viz) Nathan and Arnold Holland, Hannah Dickerson wife to Serratt Dickerson, Ann - Ricketts wife to Benjn Ricketts, Rachell Cook wife to John Cook, Sarah Holland wife to Willm Holland, Susanna Warfield wife to Jno Warfield or to their survivors, their heirs and assigns forever. -

I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Arnold Holland to be my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament - in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty third day of September in the year of your Lord God 1769.

Signed sealed published and delivered by the above named William Holland as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us: Nathan Magruder, Samuel White Junr, John Beall Magruder, Rector Magruder

Montgomery County January 22nd 1781 Then came Arnold Holland and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that the within Instrument of writing is the true and whole will and Testament of William Holland late of said County deceased, that hath come to his hands or possession and that he doth not Know of any other. Certified by Samuel Turner Register

Montgomery County January 22nd 1781. Then came Nathan Magruder, Samuel White + John Beall Magruder, three of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and Testament of William Holland late of said County deceased and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this will and that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding + that they respectively subscribed their names as wit-nesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other.
